For the family of Giorgou Nikolaou in the mountainous Southwestern Peloponnese, a barrel in the wine cellar has always been the most precious commodity. Once the must entered the well-cleaned barrel, he lifted the big cork every now and then and listened carefully the progress of the fermentation progress. He was tasting it and constantly checking its aroma. When the wine was ready, it was time for the great celebration.
Then the wine appeared on the table he always seemed very proud of his aroma and flavor . This is how the whole family learned to love good wine very early because we knew that the day we opened the barrel, it was definitely time to go to village and celebrate with the whole family.
We grew up in a family that knew how to appreciate the good pure wine, so at some point we decided that this knowledge could be further used. We started with a few acres in the beginning, in 1978, experimenting with varieties and flavor combinations. Later, acquired the old vines of the area that had remained uncultivated in recent years and tested new varieties and qualities. This progress took us to the current situation where we can proudly present Satyrikon and Saint Island series, which concentrate our long experience and passion for good quality wine. The members of our family along with professional experienced oenologists and sommeliers work together throughout the year to ensure the great quality of our wine.
